About the Whitby Group Practice

Whitby Group Practice is a personal medical services practice located in Spring Vale Medical Centre in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We have a current list size of 13,600 patients. The practice provides a service to residents of Whitby and the surrounding villages. We also have a branch surgery at Robin Hood’s Bay, approximately five miles from Whitby along the coast. Both surgeries are purpose built, have a dispensary and ample parking. They are owned by the partners.

The practice dispenses to 15% of patients. In addition, Spring Vale Medical Centre also has a pharmacy located within the premises, and Robin Hood’s Bay Surgery houses a separate dental practice.

We have operated from our purpose built Spring Vale Medical Centre since 1990. The surgery is centrally located, and readily accessible by public transport. There are parking facilities for patients using the centre, including parking for the disabled.

We are fortunate in being able to offer a most efficient and effective modern service from this spacious accommodation. The automatic doors and toilets with baby changing facilities have been designed to provide for the needs of disabled patients and those with young children.

All our services are centralised in Whitby, but there is a purpose built branch surgery in Robin Hood’s Bay located in Station Road, YO22 4RL, which opened in 1993 for the use of that community. Whilst all the partners have surgeries in Whitby, surgeries in Robin Hood’s Bay are held by Dr Fisher & Dr R Hazledine.

All the partners provide a full range of medical services, including pregnancy care, child health monitoring, contraceptive services and minor surgery.

Our doctors are also responsible for providing medical care in many departments in Whitby Community Hospital; in particular the minor injuries unit. We have the facility to admit some of our patients to Whitby Community Hospital and continue to look after them there.

If you wish to register with us please speak to one of the receptionists. They will be happy to explain the registration process, answer any questions and discuss any preference of practitioner you may have.
